Celina’s boys soccer team has found its form at the right time.

Fresh off a district championship, the Bulldogs face Richfield Revere on Wednesday, November 4, in an OHSAA Division III regional semifinal. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Port Clinton’s Bassett’s Field at True Lay Stadium, the updated location announced by Celina Athletics. Celina enters at 13–5, while Revere brings a 15–3–2 record into the matchup.

The Bulldogs earned their place with a 1–0 victory over Lexington in Saturday’s district final at Shelby. Bridon Jeffries supplied the first-half winner off an assist from Drew Baumstark, and goalkeeper Braylon Steinbrunner finished with four saves to preserve the shutout. Celina put five shots on target in the championship match.

That result followed another narrow tournament victory. Against Shawnee in the district semifinal, Zaden Rolfes scored the lone goal in the 30th minute off a corner kick. Steinbrunner also helped turn away an early Shawnee opportunity as Celina secured its first of two consecutive clean sheets.

The postseason has given the Bulldogs an opportunity to reverse some regular-season results. Celina lost to Ottawa-Glandorf and Shawnee during league play, then defeated both in the tournament — beating the Titans 8–2 before edging the Indians 1–0. With the Lexington victory, the Bulldogs have outscored their three tournament opponents 10–2.

Revere presents the next challenge after a 3–2 tournament victory over Howland on October 29. The Minutemen’s record and ability to advance through a close match set up a test for a Celina team that has recently made slim leads stand up.

For the Bulldogs, set pieces could again provide an important opening. Rolfes’ finish against Shawnee showed how a corner kick can decide a tightly contested tournament game. At the other end, limiting dangerous chances and protecting the area in front of Steinbrunner will be central to extending Celina’s run.

The winner advances to the regional final on Sunday, November 8, against either Mansfield Senior or Maumee. For Celina, Wednesday offers a chance to build on its district championship and move within one victory of the state semifinals.

For fans making the trip: Celina Athletics lists free parking in the northeast lot off Fremont Road, with accessible parking along Sixth Street for vehicles displaying a valid permit. Bulldogs supporters will sit in the east, visitor-side grandstands opposite the flagpoles. Seating is unreserved, and re-entry is not permitted.
